Varanasi also called Benares, Banaras, or Kashi, Holy city, southeastern Uttar Pradesh state, northern India. It is located at the banks of the holy River Gange (Ganga). Where, Gange aarti is performed daily in the evening by a group of priests at the Dashashwamedh ghat.

Mahashivaratri, the great night of the god Shiva, is celebrated by a procession from the Mahamrityunjaya Temple to the Kashi Vishvanath Temple. The Ganga festival is dedicated to the goddess of the Ganges River, considered sacred by all Hindus.
